This day was the last day of our adventure with Icelandic friends. We met at 8.15 in a museum called "Humanitarium". It is an educational theme park and science centre which combines learning with fun for people of all ages. It is a modern facility with a variety of interactive educational exhibits. Here pupils can participate in laboratory experiments that develop their interest in science and the arts. Our group took part in a heart section. This experience made us realize how important the heart is for our bodies. We could touch, smell and cut a pig’s heart, which resembles the human one. We were also given a short lecture on how our lifestyle: food, sports and stress affect our heart.
We saw many exhibitions related to renewable sources of energy. We tried out various technological gadgets demonstrating how to obtain energy from the sun wind and river power.
There were also different exhibits showing mirror and optical illusions tricks.
After a refreshing lunch we spent another three hours in Hydropolis Museum. It is a modern knowledge centre dedicated to water. Hydropolis has become our pride since this is the only such facility in Poland, and one of the few in the world. The exhibition area is more than 4 000 square meters and houses a total of 64 interactive installations.
At the beginning we watched a movie about the creation of the world. In the center of the exhibition room we saw a huge hologram of the earth. We learnt what percentage of water each organ has. On average human body contains 70% of water except for little babies whose bodies have 80% of it.
We could admire some unusual exhibits such as a replica of the Bathyscaphe Trieste, which reached the deepest part of the ocean in 1960. The exhibition of the weirdest fish and sea creatures filled us with awe and admiration for the richness of the vibrant life in the oceans
We learnt about Carl Heinrich Klingert -a forgotten citizen of Wroclaw who invented a diving suit, a wheel chair and a ladder. We watched maps of floods, the longest rivers in the world and Polish canals. The most important information related the water in our organism. We should drink 1,5l of water a day but also eat fruit, vegetables and drink juices made from them because we need vitamins.
After the official part of the day we met at 'Bye bye' party, we had great time there. We were in Pizza Hut and then we had fun hanging around in Rynek .
We miss our friends and believe we will have a great time when we meet in Iceland in March (2017)
